Carlton Releford, also known as S.T.A.R.R., (Spiritually Tuned Among Rhythm & Rhyme), is a resident of Knoxville, Tn. His musical endeavors began with learning piano and drums, playing in his home church in Kingsport, TN., and was making beats by the age of 14. Although Gospel is his roots, he was influenced by all genres of music, especially Neo Soul and Hip Hop. While attending Knoxville College he was introduced to “Spoken Word”, or “Slam” poetry, soon after adopting the acronym STARR as his stage name. Not long after he used one of his poems to audition for The Carpetbag Theater, who had their office based on the campus. He was hired and since then has toured and worked within the company and with various other companies, including film, as a reputable actor, poet, musician, and workshop facilitator. After having a prophetic dream in 2013 that urged him to write, he picked up his pen and without pre-meditation, wrote his first rap song for the Lord, “God Is Good”. This prompted his 1st mixtape in the Christian rap field and launched a small tour called “Passing The Crown”, taken from a song off the mixtape. He says his eyes where opened before that prophetic dream experience to the hidden demonic messages in the music, and the satanic symbolism in the music videos, movies, and other media outlets. STARR’s acting endeavors have led him to stage and tv roles on networks such as TVOne, Investigation Discovery Channel, and The OWN network. But his musical focus has been using rap & urban styled music to expose the tricks of the enemy and influence the Hip Hop culture with something more positive, uplifting, truthful and raw…..The Word!
